ANGELA FRAZADA RUG (Medium 4'9"x4'6")
These one of a kind handwoven lambswool rugs mix flat-weave of traditional Peruvian technique with bright colours and patterns. They are made in Cuzco, Peru. Each weaver expresses how they feel and their inspiration on each rug; every colour and pattern has a meaning.
Originally used as blankets or bed covers ("Frazadas") to protect Andean people from freezing temperatures in the winter time.
Every rug is made from 2 pieces of loomed fabric sown together since the looms can only be about 0.75m (2.5') wide. These wool blankets are very thick and heavy, fitting perfectly as area rugs to bring a pop of colour to your favourite rooms. Each piece takes about a month to complete and is one of a kind. From start-to-finish, they are made in a fair trade environment.
